City Lights Photography -- The Range of Light

"Go where you may within the bounds of America, cities are ever in sight, charming and glorifying every landscape." So might begin a modern day paraphrase (some might say parody) of John Muir's majestic "The Mountains of California". In every age mankind has imagined a perfection of civilization, whether Bunyan's Celestial City or Augustine's City of God or Jerusalem of Gold, the shining city on a hill, a beacon against the reality of an unredeemed world. We see glimmers of this from afar in the shinning raiment of great cities. This site is my attempt to capture the numinous moments of the city when it shows us its heroic and uplifting side in the great works of imagination and engineering that make the modern city our Range of Light.
